On September 13, 2024, I lost my dear mother, Afua. She was 82 years old and left behind her husband of 67 years and four children. My mother was my confidant and my first teacher. Her unconditional love, guidance, laughter, lessons, and the moments we shared have shaped the person I am today.
Even in her later years, though she was many miles away in Ghana, I called her every day to listen to her feelings and concerns. I encouraged her to maintain daily routines, helping to provide stability and combat loneliness by engaging in hobbies that interested her.
On the one-year anniversary of her passing, I reflected on the importance of support and connection among seniors. This led me to the idea of creating a support group for seniors, one that would provide opportunities to facilitate meaningful connections, discuss challenges, and enjoy fun activities together. The Shared Resource Support Group was born from this inspiration.
The Shared Resource Support Group (SRSG) serves as a new hub for seniors, offering a dedicated space where members can connect and support one another.
SRSG provides an inclusive environment that encourages seniors to share their experiences, fostering a sense of community and belonging among its participants.
SRSG is committed to delivering valuable resources and support tailored to the needs of seniors. By offering educational opportunities and practical assistance, the group helps members navigate challenges and access information relevant to their well-being.
Through educational initiatives, SRSG empowers seniors to expand their knowledge, make informed decisions, and enhance their quality of life. The group fosters an atmosphere where learning is encouraged, and members are supported as they pursue personal growth.

Our primary goal is to improve mental health and well-being of everyone involved in the Shared Resource Support Group (SRSG). We focus on supporting individuals as they address their mental health needs, providing a safe and welcoming environment where members can feel heard and valued.

SRSG is committed to representing and engaging the voices of those with lived experience. Our group encourages members to share their stories and perspectives, ensuring that their unique insights are central to our activities and support offerings.

We strive to reduce isolation and boredom among our senior members. By fostering meaningful connections and regular engagement, the group helps individuals feel less alone and more involved in their community.

SRSG values the exchange of practical insights and experiences. Members are encouraged to contribute to our shared knowledge base, enhancing collective understanding and offering guidance that benefits others facing similar challenges.

We hold compassion and empathy for individuals living with mental health disorders. The group provides education, resources, and support to those navigating mental health challenges, helping them as they work to take care of their mental health.
We provide weekly daytime groups at 4pm on Fridays, an hour long.
